If you do not want English support and help for your child, please follow these directions below:
- First, please go to the link, “How To Get English Support at School” and read the information there. Please be sure that you really do not want extra help in English for your child. If you still do not want extra help for your child, then please proceed to #2 below.
- At any time, you can request that you do not want English help for your child.
- You can request the form to remove your child from ESL support from Ms. Tchalo.
- Or you can simply download the form here: Decline Services Form
- Complete the" Decline Services Form" in number 4 above and give that form to the ESL teacher.
- If your child is still not proficient in English when you stop ESL support, your child will still have to take the WIDA test of English each spring until your child shows she/he is proficient in English. This test is a requirement from the State of Michigan. The Ann Arbor Public Schools must follow the law that requires to give the WIDA test to your child.
- Your child will not need support in English when your child reaches all of these 3 goals:
- Your child scores “proficient” on the WIDA test of English proficiency.
- Your child reaches grade level in reading.
- Your child reaches grade level in math. If your child does not reach all 3 goals, your child will have to take the WIDA test of English proficiency until your child does reach those goals.
